CONTROL Resonant System Requirements

CONTROL Resonant requires Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, 100 GB available storage, and at least a GTX 1070 or RX 5600 XT with 6 GB VRAM according to Steam. The recommended GPU is an RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT with 8 GB VRAM, paired with a Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel equivalent. Steam has not yet attached resolution, frame-rate, graphics-preset, upscaling, SSD, or ray-tracing targets to these tiers.

These are the official published requirements checked on September 1, 2026, not estimates copied from an earlier placeholder page. They are useful for screening hardware, but they do not answer how a borderline PC will perform. Wait for release-build benchmarks if you need a guaranteed frame-rate or ultrawide result.

Steam does not currently define what “minimum” and “recommended” produce. Without a target such as 1080p Low at 30 fps or 1440p High at 60 fps, the two columns are hardware baselines rather than performance promises. The listing may still be revised before or after release.

Minimum CPU explained

The named minimum processor is Intel's Core i5-8500, a six-core desktop CPU, with an unspecified AMD equivalent. “AMD equivalent” is broad and should not be reduced to one invented model, because architecture, clocks, memory, and background load matter. Laptop processors with similar names can also have different sustained power limits.

Meeting the CPU line does not compensate for missing GPU memory or RAM. CONTROL Resonant includes large zones, physics-heavy abilities, and close combat involving multiple enemies, all of which can stress different parts of a system. Actual CPU scaling needs a controlled release benchmark.

Minimum GPU and VRAM

The minimum graphics cards are the GTX 1070 or RX 5600 XT, with 6 GB VRAM stated. The two GPUs do not have identical features or performance in every workload, so their presence should be read as Remedy's supported floor rather than a perfect equivalence. A newer card is not automatically sufficient if its memory or power target is substantially lower.

Steam does not say whether the minimum tier uses upscaling, dynamic resolution, or a specific texture preset. The GTX 1070 also lacks modern RTX hardware, which suggests ray tracing cannot be mandatory for basic operation, but that is an inference rather than a published setting rule. Final graphics options will be documented after launch.

Recommended CPU and GPU

The recommended processor is AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or an Intel equivalent. The recommended GPUs are NVIDIA RTX 3070 or AMD RX 6700 XT with 8 GB VRAM. This tier is a meaningful step up from minimum, especially in GPU throughput and processor threads.

Again, Steam does not attach an output target. “Recommended” might mean a higher preset, higher resolution, higher frame rate, or simply the configuration used for general quality assurance. Do not advertise 4K or 60 fps from the model names alone.

RAM and background applications

Both tiers require 16 GB of system memory. A PC with exactly 16 GB should close memory-heavy browser tabs, capture software, and other unnecessary applications before play, particularly when the operating system and launchers are also active. Capacity is only one factor; correct dual-channel configuration and stable memory settings can affect performance.

Steam does not list 32 GB as recommended. That means extra capacity should be treated as headroom rather than a formal requirement. Benchmarks will determine whether demanding settings or long sessions benefit measurably from more memory.

Storage and SSD status

Steam requires 100 GB of available space for both tiers. That is an allocation requirement, not a confirmed download size, because compressed downloads and installed files can differ. Patches and unpacking may temporarily require additional free space.

The current table does not explicitly say that an SSD is required. An SSD may still improve loading or streaming, but this guide will not convert a sensible recommendation into an official rule. Keep at least 110–120 GB free if practical so the client has room to install and patch.

Operating system and Linux

The supported PC operating systems listed are 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. Windows 7, Windows 8, 32-bit Windows, and native Linux support are not listed. Steam Deck status is Unknown rather than Verified or Playable.

Proton may eventually run the Windows version on Linux, but compatibility needs launch testing and can change with drivers, anti-cheat, codecs, or patches. CONTROL Resonant is single-player, which removes one common compatibility obstacle, but it does not prove Linux support. Any future test will identify the Proton version and game build.

Can a laptop run CONTROL Resonant?

A laptop can potentially run the game if its sustained CPU, discrete GPU, VRAM, memory, storage, and cooling are comparable to the listed desktop targets. Mobile GPUs sharing a desktop model family are often configured at different power levels, and integrated graphics should not be assumed equivalent to a GTX 1070 or RX 5600 XT. Model name alone is not enough.

Check the exact GPU in Task Manager or the manufacturer's specifications, then confirm dedicated VRAM. Play while connected to power, use the performance profile, and update the official graphics driver. Wait for benchmarks from the same laptop GPU wattage if your system is close to minimum.

Steam Deck and Windows handhelds

Steam shows Steam Deck compatibility: Unknown. Full controller support does not establish acceptable frame rate, memory behavior, shader compilation, or interface readability on the Deck. Valve's rating can appear before or after launch.

Windows handhelds also vary widely in processor, memory bandwidth, and power budget. Their integrated GPUs are not directly represented by the desktop cards in the requirements table. Post-launch tests should disclose device, TDP, resolution, upscaler, preset, and patch version to be useful.

How to check your PC

On Windows, open Task Manager and use the Performance tab to identify the CPU, installed memory, GPU, and dedicated GPU memory. Open Settings → System → Storage to confirm available drive space, and run winver if you need the Windows version. Compare every component rather than only the graphics card.

If the GPU is below minimum, cloud play through GeForce NOW may be an option when the supported store entitlement is confirmed. What remains unknown?

Official targets for resolution and frame rate, preset names, DirectX version, ray tracing, upscalers, frame generation, HDR, ultrawide support, shader compilation, and SSD behavior remain unspecified in the current source. Sound-card fields are still marked TBD. Download and day-one patch sizes are also separate from the 100 GB allocation.

This page will replace uncertainty with measured information only after the release build is available. Benchmarks will record hardware, driver, settings, scene, and version so two results can be compared. Until then, the Steam table above is the authoritative answer.
