CONTROL Resonant Xbox Performance Mode
Choose a CONTROL Resonant Xbox copy: check Series X physical editions, disc-drive compatibility, digital Play Anywhere purchases, and the 60 FPS Performance target.
On this page+
CONTROL Resonant is out digitally on Xbox Series X|S, and physical Standard and SteelBook editions launched October 15, 2026, for Xbox Series X. To use a disc directly, check that your Series X has a drive. For graphics, Remedy's published Series X confirmation identifies a 60 FPS Performance target and a separate Quality Mode.
If you prioritize responsive combat, Performance is a useful starting choice based on its stated 60 FPS target. Compare modes in the same area before settling on your preferred setting. The recommendations below use published specifications; they are not a measured frame-rate test.
Which Xbox copy should I buy?
| Your setup or priority | Purchase check |
|---|---|
| Series X with a disc drive; you want a boxed copy | Compare physical Standard with SteelBook's case, three art prints, and poster |
| Series S or Series X All-Digital | Choose digital for direct access on the console; these models cannot read the disc |
| Xbox and Windows PC with shared progress | Check the Xbox Play Anywhere badge on the eligible digital listing and use the same Microsoft account |
Physical availability and contents were checked October 17, 2026, against Remedy's October 15 announcement. Microsoft lists both disc and All-Digital Series X models in its console comparison. The edition guide compares package contents and announced prices.
What is confirmed on Xbox Series X?
In the Gamescom follow-up interview, Arhi Makkonen confirmed the standard Quality/Performance arrangement and specified 60 FPS in Performance Mode. The response followed a question about console performance and lets players choose between the two modes.
The interview does not disclose the Quality Mode frame-rate target, so it should not be reported as 30 FPS. It also does not state resolution, dynamic-resolution range, reconstruction technique, ray tracing, VRR behavior, or the settings that differ between the modes.
What about Xbox Series S?
CONTROL Resonant is officially announced for Xbox Series X|S, but the public Gamescom performance discussion does not publish a Series S-specific frame-rate or resolution target. Do not assume the Series X setting list applies unchanged to Series S until Remedy or the Xbox store specifies it, or a versioned public-build test documents it.
This is particularly important when comparing a fixed 60-FPS target with image quality: a shared mode name can still use different resolutions or settings on different console hardware.
Play Anywhere is separate
Xbox Play Anywhere lets an eligible digital Xbox purchase work across Xbox console, Xbox on PC, and supported Windows handhelds, with saves, add-ons, and achievements following the Microsoft account. Xbox's official FAQ explains where to find the badge and that the program applies to eligible digital purchases, including retailer digital codes.
If your goal is console and PC play, compare that eligible digital entitlement before choosing a physical collector's package. Steam and Epic copies are separate store choices. Match the buying account, edition, and supported devices on the listing so you can install through the intended library.
How to compare modes on your console
- Finish the available update installation, then note your console model, game version, and display settings.
- On Series X, start with Performance if frame rate is your priority. Revisit the same combat encounter and camera route in Quality to compare responsiveness and image detail on your display.
- Keep the display output and HDR/VRR configuration unchanged between those comparisons. On Series S, use the settings actually offered in its menu rather than treating a Series X target as a Series S specification.
For a quest problem, use the 1.4.2 symptom checklist before changing graphics settings or starting a new run. A progression fix and a performance-mode choice address different problems.
Sources and verification
October 17, 2026: physical release and contents checked against Remedy's release notice; hardware and purchase checks against Microsoft's console comparison and Xbox Play Anywhere FAQ. Mode-selection steps are our suggested comparison method. The performance confirmation retains its earlier source date below.
Verified on September 10, 2026 from Wccftech's Gamescom interview with Arhi Makkonen for the two-mode/60-FPS confirmation. Xbox Series X|S availability and Play Anywhere are cross-checked with Xbox Wire's official announcement and Remedy's quoted gone-gold and physical-release update. No Series S technical target has been attributed to Remedy here.
